Details to be announced.
On December 27th over 40 of us gathered in Huckleberry Hall to reconnect with other SWS alumni, parents, teachers, and former staff members. The event offered many pleasant surprises ("It's so nice to see you again!" and "I almost didn't recognize you!"), deep conversations, walks through the school and grounds filled with wonder ("Huckleberry Hall is much smaller than I remember it!") and of course, delicious food.
Elaine Klansik and a group of alumni set up a game of Capture The Flag, but it proved too difficult to stop sharing stories, and the game had to be postponed to the next gathering. Kim Holscher (a former SWS teacher) shared that she has embarked on a project to create video interviews with Waldorf alumni and teachers discussing the benefits of Waldorf education. The interviews will be posted on Facebook in the near future – stay tuned. All in all, a success!
We are in the process of building an updated contact list for everyone who once was connected to our school, so we can invite them to future events. Perhaps you can help us by sending the link to our Stay Connected page to people you think might be interested.
Last night (Nov 14) I had the pleasure to open Huckleberry Hall to twenty-some SWS alumni for our first alumni gathering. It was a privilege to be in the company of these well spoken, polite, caring, generous, and funny young people, and it was a delight to observe their joy in reconnecting with each other.
Dominic Metroplos, who graduated from Ms. Knodle’s class in 2000, initiated the event to promote community and networking among SWS alumni. The SWS development department was happy to support Dominic in his planning, and by providing publicity and space. We all hope to make this a regular event!
Dominic brought two actors from the Taproot Theatre who, through their improv games, encouraged us to “welcome the unexpected” in life. Elise Fogel led a brief walk down memory lane, and Jordan Malloch shared his belief in the power of networking.
We hope to soon post profiles of some of these wonderful young people on our website to tell you more about the interesting paths they are taking, and to help us strengthen our network as well!

Development Assistant
P.S. I asked guests at the event to share ideas for future events.
The suggestions included capture the flag and throwing stuff at dragons!
