Our School

Seattle Waldorf School offers Waldorf EducationSM to students in parent & tot classes through grade 12. It was founded in 1980, with 17 kindergarten children and a trained Waldorf teacher in central Seattle. Through continued educational research, community involvement, sustained growth, and a merger with the local Waldorf high school in the summer of 2007, our school has grown to become the first early childhood through grade 12 Waldorf school in the state of Washington. Our school is one of nearly 1,000 Waldorf schools worldwide sharing this 90-year-old educational philosophy.

Three Campuses in Seattle

Our Grade School Campus, in a wooded area of Northeast Seattle's Meadowbrook neighborhood, houses our early childhood program (parent & tot, preschool and kindergarten), elementary and middle school grades one through eight, and our administrative offices. Two additional kindergarten classes are held at our Wallingford Kinderhaus campus. Our high school is located in an historic 1920s school building across the street from the Seattle Center at 160 John Street. Maps & directions.

Integrated Academic Curriculum

Waldorf education nurtures the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual capacities of the developing student. Using and building upon the 90-year-old Waldorf educational philosophy, our experienced faculty provides a complete academic program — science, mathematics, history, language arts and world languages. Integrated into the curriculum are gardening, drawing, painting, sculpture, handwork, movement, music and drama.

We are committed to building our educational and community traditions and programs so that they meet the changing needs of our students and their families.

Community Involvement

Parent participation and support in all aspects of school life is highly encouraged and vital, and takes place through continuing education lectures and workshops, regular parent meetings, and community events.
