Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging
Statement of Intention
We welcome, value, and support everyone at the Seattle Waldorf School.
Racism, prejudice and inequity exist throughout society and institutions, including the Seattle Waldorf School. We commit to understanding and challenging systems of oppression because we believe students with a deep sense of belonging can contribute positively to humanity and the earth.
Our commitment lives in action: reflecting on our biases, designing thoughtful curricula, developing inclusive teaching practices, and holding each other accountable.
SWS Action
In September 2020 we hired our first Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. During the 2020–21 school year, our faculty and staff undertook a year-long SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity) training to foster inclusivity through personal, organizational, and societal change.

Community Action
What actions can we as a community take to make this world one of compassion, empathy, wholeness, and justice? There are many ways families can engage.
