Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Statement of Intention
SWS Equity Advisory Group
At Seattle Waldorf School we are committed to creating a community that is inclusive for all students, families, faculty, and staff, especially those who have been impacted by racism and oppression, and to create a culture that supports racial equity by changing our existing systems and practices.

SWS Action
In September 2020 we hired our first Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. During the 2020–21 school year, our faculty and staff undertook a year-long SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity) training to foster inclusivity through personal, organizational, and societal change.

AWSNA Action
“Waldorf education espouses principles of respect for human dignity and recognizes that diversity, inclusivity and equity is a journey of both moral and educational importance.”

Community Action
What actions can we as a community take to make this world one of compassion, empathy, wholeness, and justice? There are many ways families can engage.
Land Acknowledgment
We acknowledge that we reside on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish peoples who have stewarded this land for generations. We pay our respect to the Elders and their descendants, past, present, and future, and honor with gratitude the land, plants, and animals.
